Территория Республики Саха (Якутия) по разнообразию и величине запасов месторождений полезных ископаемых является уникальной не только в России, но и в мировом масштабе. Здесь известны месторождения нефти, газа, каменных углей, руд чёрных, цветных, редких и благородных металлов, алмазов, разнообразного горнорудного и горно-химического сырья и строительных материалов. К настоящему времени выявлено около 1500 месторождений различных видов минерального сырья, в том числе 150 кимберлитовых трубок. The territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is unique not only in Russia, but also all over the world by the variety and size of mineral reserve deposits. Deposits of oil, gas, coal, ores of ferrous, non-ferrous, rare and noble metals, diamonds, various mining, raw chemical materials and building materials are known to be in Yakutia. Nowadays, about 1,500 various types of raw mineral materials deposits have been identified, including 150 kimberlite pipes.
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) includes the following administrative and territorial units: one city of republican significance (Yakutsk), 34 ulus (districts) which include naslegs (rural districts), cities of ulus (district) subordination, villages (urban-type settlements) and selo (rural localities). Yakutia is a unique region by its natural resources diversity. Diamonds, gold, silver, tin, coal, oil and gas are mined in Yakutia. Yakutia is well endowed with not only mineral resources, but also with a variety of flora and fauna. Most of the territory is occupied by taiga, in the north - forest-tundra, tundra and arctic desert. The basis of region's animal world is formed by Arctic and Siberian types of fauna. The territory of Yakutia is washed by Laptev Sea and East Siberian Sea, the water bodies are the basins of such large rivers as Lena, Kolyma, Indigirka, Yana, Olenek, Anabar, Alazeya and other rivers flowing into these seas.
